Mistele has early lead
With about 7,500 votes counted, Dane County Exec. Kathleen Falk is trailing challenger Nancy Mistele.
Mistele has 56.5 percent of the vote to Falk's 43.4 percent with about a dozen districts reporting, including Mazomanie and the towns of Burke and Berry.
Falk has won just one district, Belleville, so far according to the totals. No urban districts have reported yet.
UPDATE: With about 15,000 votes counted, Mistele continues to own a 54.4 percent to 45.4 percent edge on the strength of rural districts. No returns yet from Madison.
UPDATE 2: Mistele continues her dominance in the outlying areas of Dane County, with a 54.6 percent to 45.2 percent lead with nearly 20,000 votes in.
Coincidentally, Tony Evers is leading Rose Fernandez 62.6 to 47.3 percent in these Dane County districts, and Shirley Abrahamson is leading Randy Koschnick 64.9 percent to 35 percent.
UPDATE 3: The gap has narrowed to 52-48 with 35,000 votes in. Still nothing from the city of Madison as of 9 p.m.
