DOJ to send election observers to poll sites Tuesday
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today the Department of Justice will send assistant AGs and special agents from the Division of Criminal Investigation to polling sites around the state on Tuesday to assist local officials in ensuring compliance with election laws.
Seven teams will be assigned to Milwaukee in cooperation with the Milwaukee County DA's office, the DOJ said today. Two teams will be assigned to Madison, while one team each will operate in Appleton, Green Bay, Racine/Kenosha, Waukesha, Eau Claire, Wausau, Janesville/Beloit and La Crosse.
The DOJ said a similar effort is expected for the fall general election in November and that special teams were dispatched for the 2004, 2008 and 2010 elections.
