Neumann radio ad turns Hovde comments against him
A new ad from former Congressman Mark Neumann uses clips of opponent Eric Hovde to claim that Hovde is "not a real conservative."
The 60-second radio ad begins with a narrator asking, "Don't know Eric Hovde? You're not alone." It then notes that he's lived in Washington D.C. for 24 years and begins using clips of Hovde talking about taxes and infusion of capital into the banking system.
"In his newsletter, Eric Hovde supported billions more in stimulus on high speed rail," the narrator claims. It also repeats a clip of Hovde saying he has "no problem" paying higher taxes.
The Hovde camp claims that the newsletter cited by Neumann was written by another employee at Hovde Financial after Hovde stopped running the company.
"Billions in bank bailouts," the narrator says. "Billions more in stimulus spending for high speed rail and higher taxes? That's the Eric Hovde who gave campaign money to Jim Doyle. Hovde's TV commercials? That's politics. Hovde's record proves he's not a real conservative."
