Pocan, Roys release TV ads
2nd CD Dem candidates Mark Pocan and Kelda Helen Roys have released their first TV ads of the campaign.
Pocan's spot, released yesterday, touts his background in small business.
He says in the spot that his dad ran his own printing company, while his mom owned a beauty supply store. They taught him how to run a business and treat employees and customers fairly.
“I practice those lessons every day in my own union print shop,” he says.
He adds that those lessons helped him in get results in the Legislature like passing a bill to crack down on corporations that ship shops overseas.
“It’s simple. Stand up for what you believe and work until you get it done,” Pocan says. “That’s what I’ll do in Congress.”
Roys put out two spots. Both ads feature Roys speaking directly into the camera against a blue background. In a spot entitled “Cave,” Roys says most legislators “just went along” when Walker wanted tax breaks for wealthy corporations.
“I stood up to him. In Congress, I’ll stand up to anyone and fight for equal pay, for reproductive rights and to protect Social Security,” Roys said, adding to her line approving the message in the ad that “This is my fight, too.”
In the second spot, Roys says experience matters and as a leader of a pro-choice organization, she “helped build a movement” and in the Legislature, she took up to Walker’s corporate tax giveaways.
“Here’s the kind of experience I don’t have. I don’t cave in when things get tough, and I don’t make backroom deals. In Congress, you’ll know where I stand,” she says. “I’m Kelda Roys, and I approve this message because integrity matters, too.”
