Rasmussen: Baldwin leads all GOP candidates; Hovde closest
A new Rasmussen Reports poll has Dem U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin leading all of her potential GOP rivals.
Hedge fund manager and community banker Eric Hovde lagged Baldwin 45 percent to 42 percent, which is within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
The poll also showed former Gov. Tommy Thompson, who had been leading Baldwin in most polls, trailing the 2nd CD rep. She led Thompson 48-41, topped former U.S. Rep. Mark Neuman 48-42 and led Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald 47-37.
The automated phone survey of 500 likely voters was conducted Wednesday.
The same sample found President Obama edging GOP challenger Mitt Romney 49-46. It found 52 percent of voters surveyed approved of the job the president is doing, while 47 percent disapproved. Fifty percent of respondents had a favorable impression of Romney, while 48 percent viewed him unfavorably.
Dems generally criticize Rasmussen polls as biased toward Republicans.
