New Hovde radio ad harkens back to days of Ronald Reagan
A new radio ad from Eric Hovde draws on the legacy of Ronald Reagan and his father's role in his administration to explain his belief in the private sector.
The 60-second radio ad, titled "Reagan," begins with Hovde noting that Reagan was his political hero and expressing his awe at being told as a kid that his father was going to serve in the Reagan administration. Hovde's father Don served as the Undersecretary for Housing and Urban Development under Reagan.
"Imagine that," Hovde says. "My dad, serving as the highest ranking official from Wisconsin for the man who got America back on track."
He cites that as the reason for going to Washington after graduating from the University of Wisconsin. He then says that he returned to rebuild his family real estate business. He says that's the "American dream," which needs to "be preserved for future generations."
"I entered the race for the U.S. Senate because I'm concerned that President Obama and career politicians have taken us down the wrong path," Hovde says. "We need to bring back traditional family values, reduce the size of government and empower our private sectors. Ronald Reagan believed in the greatness of our country and so do I."
