New Hovde TV ad goes after "Negative Neumann"
A new TV ad from Eric Hovde chastises former Congressman Mark Neumann for recent attempts to praise Gov. Scott Walker, given the comments he made during his race against Walker in 2010.
The 30-second TV ad, titled "Negative Neumann Can't Rewrite History," begins with footage of a children's playground and a child's rhyme playing in the background, before a narrator says "Now that Gov. Walker is popular, Mark Neumann is trying to act like he's Scott Walker's best friend." The ad then imposes a picture of Neumann on top of the playground footage.
The ad references a recent Neumann ad -- copies of which the campaign has yet to provide -- where attempts to distance himself from the 2010 race, saying that if had known Walker was going to be such a "bold, conservative leader," he wouldn't have run against him.
"But not too long ago, Neumann was Walker's biggest critic, remember?" The narrator says. "Neumann said Walker was only working part time. He attacked Walker on his budgets. On guns. On immigration. Mark Neumann even said that Walker was worse than liberal Jim Doyle."
The ad ends with the narrator saying "Negative Neumann: Will you ever stop running for office?"
