New Thompson TV ads show supporters; tout conservative credentials
The campaign of former Gov. Tommy Thompson has put out two new TV spots -- one that makes makes a general pitch for his candidacy and another that uses supporters to refute the attacks against him.
The first 30-second ad, entitled, "Transform," starts with Thompson highlighting how he "sparked a conservative movement" with tax cuts and ending welfare.
He then pledges to repeal health care and cut spending in Washington.
"I'll fight to keep the American promise to our children and grandchildren," Thompson says. "It's immoral to pile debt onto future generations."
A second 30-second ad, entitled "Pure Wisconsin," starts with a young man saying the attacks against Thompson are "just not true -- we know better." Another woman then says Thompson is "100 percent Wisconsin."
The ad then features prominent supporters Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel and former Lt. Gov. Margaret Farrow.
"Tommy's a fighter," Farrow says. "He'll do away with Obamacare."
The ad then features two other families explaining their reasons for supporting Thompson, with one man standing with his family in Tommy shirts.
"I'm voting for Tommy because during these tough times we need his experience," the man says.
The ad then ends with Thompson making one last pitch, with his wife and several grandchildren surrounding him.
"Join me now to bring America back," Thompson ends.
