AFSCME claims Thompson "changed" by Washington
A new advertisement from the Wisconsin branch of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees claims that GOP U.S. Senate candidate and former Gov. Tommy Thompson has been changed from his years at D.C. lobbying firms.
The 30-second TV ad, titled "Washington Changed Us" , starts with Thompson saying during a 2007 presidential debate that "We went to Washington to change Washington and Washington changed us."
"Tommy Thompson changed all right," the narrator chimes in. "He joined a big D.C. lobbying firm, selling his influence to health care companies, making millions helping insiders at our expense."
The ad also claimed that Thompson worked for companies that outsourced American jobs and that he supports "massive tax cuts" for companies that "outsource Wisconsin jobs."
The ad ends by repeating Thompson claiming "Washington changed us," after which the narrator says "It sure did."
