Courtney tells Ryan crowd change 'has to start in Wisconsin'
State GOP Chair Brad Courtney opened today’s town hall meeting hosted by Paul Ryan by declaring the presidential race is tight in Wisconsin and urging supporter to get involved with the campaign.
“We need change,” Courtney said. “It has to start here in Wisconsin, and that will happen with Romney and Ryan.”
State Rep. John Nygren, R-Marinette, addressed the crowd at the Cornerstone Community Ice Center, as did John Macco, the GOP candidate in the 30th Senate District.
“With your help, we’re going to send Dave Hansen back o Rockford, Illinois, and we’re going to send Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan to the White House,” Macco said, a reference to Senate Dems leaving Wisconsin for Illinois last year in an attempt to hold up a vote on the governor's changes to collective bargaining for public employees.
Ashwaubenon Village President Michael Aubinger joked with the crowd that he'd waived the municipality's noise ordinance for the day and said the community practiced "Ryantonian" economic principles.
Across the street from the ice center, protesters held signs that read things such as "1 percent Ryan."
