Ryan's first TV ad of congressional campaign says Americans, not Washington should decide country's path
In the first TV ad of his congressional race, Paul Ryan says Americans deserve a choice and “you, not Washington, should decide the path we take and the decisions we make.”
The spot shows the GOP vice presidential nominee in a coffee shop speaking to a group of people. He tells them Americans can’t wait and if “we act now, we can get this right.”
“We don’t want a government-controlled society. We want a limited government that is both efficient and effective,” the congressman says as the Ryan for Congress logo appears on the screen. “This is our chance to restore real faith and real opportunity in America.”
The spot does not mention Ryan’s House race other than the logo and the disclaimer that appears across the bottom of the screen.
The ad is the first of a $2 million buy in the Milwaukee and Madison markets that begins today. The campaign begins on broadcast and cable in Milwaukee right away. But Ryan will only be on cable in the Madison market until Oct. 10, the day before the debates Vice President Joe Biden. About $1.5 million of the buy is in the Milwaukee market, while Ryan is spending $493,803 in Madison, according to the campaign of Ryan opponent Rob Zerban. Ryan’s campaign confirmed the numbers.
