Baldwin ad features Appleton worker on Baldwin's strengths, Thompson's flaws
A new ad from Tammy Baldwin employs an Appleton factory worker and union leader to talk up Baldwin's record on trade and criticize Tommy Thompson's record in the private sector.
The 30-second ad, titled "Expert", begins with Appleton steel worker Heath VerBockel, stating that while the United States has the best workers, other countries "don't play fair."
VerBockel was listed in a 2010 AFL-CIO blog post as the president of United Steelworkers 2-144 Local in Appleton.
"Tammy Baldwin gets it," VerBockel says. "She's worked with Democrats and Republicans to crack down on China cheating."
He then says that he doesn't think Thompson would be as tough as Baldwin, noting his time as a consultant to a company that taught businesses how to outsource jobs.
"I don't want a senator that's an expert on outsourcing," VerBockel says. "I want a senator who is an expert on fighting for us."
The ad ends with Baldwin, who is featured touring a factory in the ad saying, "I think we need a level playing field for Wisconsin workers."
