Baldwin ad hits Thompson over remark on Medicaid, Medicare
Tammy Baldwin’s Senate campaign is up with a new TV ad that knocks Tommy Thompson for telling a group he’s the best person to “do away with Medicaid and Medicare.”
The spot opens with the narrator saying, “Here’s what Tommy Thompson says on TV” and then plays a clip from a Thompson campaign ad in which he says, “I’ll never break our promise to America’s seniors.”
The narrator then says, “Here’s what Tommy says behind closed doors.”
The spot then shows a clip of Thompson saying, “And who better than me to do away with Medicaid and Medicare?”
A woman then asks, “Tommy says he’s the right guy to end Medicare?”
“That makes him the wrong guy for me,” another woman adds.
The narrator then says Thompson’s plan “ends the guarantee of Medicare” and would cost seniors almost $6,000 a year.
“I don’t want to end Medicare,” a woman says before the narrator closes the spot, “Tommy Thompson, he’s not for you anymore.”
