Baldwin poll has her up 48-44 on Thompson
Polling conducted for Tammy Baldwin’s campaign has the Madison Dem up on GOP rival Tommy Thompson 48 percent to 44 percent.
A polling memo on the results showed the results differed slightly from last month, when Baldwin was up 50-45.
The survey found 51 percent had an unfavorable impression of Thompson. The memo did not include Baldwin’s unfavorable rating, but said she led Thompson on who voters though would stand up for the middle class and who will protect Medicare.
The survey of 800 likely voters was conducted Sunday through Tuesday using live interviews. Nineteen percent of respondents were reached on their cell phones. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
The sample included 32 percent who identified themselves as Dems, 28 percent who said they were Republicans and 37 percent who were independents.
