Huffington Post posts second video showing Jason Thompson joking about sending president back to Kenya
The Hufftington Post today posted a second video showing Tommy Thompson's son making a joke about sending the president back to Kenya.
An earlier video showed Jason Thompson saying at a Kenosha County GOP fundraiser on Sunday that there was an opportunity to send Barack Obama back to Chicago "or Kenya," a reference to the contention by so-called birthers that the president is not a U.S. citizen.
The video posted today was shot at an Oct. 6 rally in Fond du Lac.
In the video, Jason Thompson tells the crowd, "We have an opportunity to send President Obama back to Chicago," the same line he used at the Sunday fundraiser in Kenosha.
As the crowd cheers, some replied "Back to Kenya!"
"That would even be better," Jason Thompson says, laughing.
The Huffington Post wrote the video was recorded by a Dem tracker and provided to the website.
Yesterday, Tommy Thompson said his son doesn't need to apologize publicly or to the president for his comments Sunday. He said it was an offhand remark and that he "feels miserable about it."
This morning, state Dem Chair Mike Tate called Tommy Thompson's response "deplorable" and said the former guv assumed he was going to be coronated senator.
"Tommy Thompson in his arrogance and pride no longer represent the values of the people of Wisconsin," Tate said.
