New AFSCME ad hits at Thompson using Medicare and Medicaid comments
A new ad from the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees attacks Tommy Thompson using the taped comments he made in June that implied he would end Medicare and Medicaid.
The 30-second TV ad, titled "Do Away With," begins by replaying the 2007 debate footage of Thompson saying "We went to Washington to change Washington and Washington changed us."
"Tommy Thompson's changed alright," the narrator chimes in. The ad then plays the clip of Thompson speaking to tea party supporters.
"And who better than me to do away with Medicaid and Medicare?" Thompson says.
The narrator then claims that Thompson would turn Medicare into a voucher program that would benefit "the same companies that paid him millions."
The ad then plays part of the clip where Thompson says "who better than me?" The narrator then ends with the question "Better for who, Tommy?"
