Project New America, US Action poll: Obama 48, Romney 43
A new poll conducted for Project New America and US Action has President Obama up on Mitt Romney among likely Wisconsin voters 48 percent to 43 percent.
The poll found independents favored Obama 45-33, women voters 52-39 and those under 50 by a margin of 54-36, according to a memo given to WisPolitics.com. Romney had an edge with men 47-44 and older voters 48-44.
The president also had the edge over Romney for who voters thought understood the struggles of middle-class families, trust to make decisions in voters' best interest, and believe offers calm and steady leadership in times of crisis.
Thirty-six percent thought Obama was too willing to say anything to get elected, while 37 percent thought the same of Romney.
The survey of 500 likely voters was conducted by Grove Insight Wednesday and Thursday using live interviews and included cell phone only households. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
Thirty-one percent of respondents identified themselves as Republicans, 30 percent Dems and 36 percent independents.
The US Action coalition includes Citizen Action of Wisconsin.
