Ryan talks health care in latest TV ad for congressional race
U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Janesville, says in the latest TV ad for his congressional campaign that insurance and government bureaucrats should get out of the way of health care decisions and providers should be forced to compete for business.
Ryan’s spot, like others he’s released so far in the campaign, features the GOP congressman in a town hall-like setting. Ryan holds a note pad with a power point presentation on the screen behind him as a woman in the audience says health care is a mess and asks for Ryan’s plan.
Ryan says getting insurance and government bureaucrats out of the way and fostering competition among providers can “cut costs, improve quality and make health care accessible for everyone.”
“Insurance companies and providers should show us their prices and practices so you can make decisions based on cost and quality,” Ryan says the close the spot. “You should be in charge of your health, not government or insurance bureaucrats.”
The spot makes no mention of Ryan’s bid for the vice presidency.
