In college, Bradley wrote 'Homosexual sex kills,' referred to some with AIDS as 'degenerates'

As a student at Marquette University, Rebecca Bradley wrote in 1992 “Homosexual sex kills,” referred to some with AIDS as “degenerates” and derided those who supported Bill Clinton as “totally stupid or entirely evil” for electing a “queer-loving ... radical socialist adulterer."

The liberal group One Wisconsin Now released the writings today as Executive Director Scot Ross said the columns disqualify Bradley from serving on the state Supreme Court. He was joined by Scott Foval of the liberal People for the American Way in calling on Bradley to resign.

The justice responded she was embarrassed about the content and tone of what she wrote and apologized to those offended by “comments I made as a young college student.” Her campaign manager said the call for her to resign was “absurd” and she will not step down.

“These comments have nothing to do with who I am as a person or a jurist, and they have nothing to do with the issues facing the voters of this state,” Bradley said, adding the writings were being released to distract from the issues at hand.

The pieces from the Marquette Tribune included a column and two letters to the editor that appear under Bradley’s maiden name, Grassl. In them, she wrote:

* “Heterosexual sex is very healthy in a loving marital relationship. Homosexual sex, however, kills."

* “We have now elected a tree-hugging, baby-killing, pot-smoking, flag-burning, queer-loving, bull-spouting ‘60s radical socialist adulterer to the highest office in our nation. Doesn’t it make you proud to be an American? We’ve just had an election which proves the majority of voters are either totally stupid or entirely evil.”

* “Perhaps AIDS Awareness should seek to educate us with their misdirected compassion for the degenerates who basically commit suicide through their behavior.”

* “Either you condone drug use, homosexuality, AIDs-producing sex, adultery and murder and are therefore a bad person, or you didn’t know that he supports abortion on demand and socialism, which means you are dumb."

* “I will certainly characterize whomever transferred their infected blood a homosexual or drug-addicted degenerate and a murderer.”

“Beyond everything else, they reveal such a depth of contempt for a population of human beings Justice Bradley simply cannot be trusted to uphold the most basic tenet of our judicial system that all people are treated equally before the law,” Ross said.
