DOJ files request for stay in case that impacted voter ID, struck down limits on early voting hours
The state DOJ today filed a motion to stay a federal judge's ruling that impacted Wisconsin's voter ID requirement and struck down restrictions on early voting hours.
DOJ argued in its motion it is likely to prevail on appeal and allowing the ruling to remain in place until then would "cause major disruption and voter confusion to require Defendants to
change election procedures and inform the public of those changes, only to
change the procedures back, and re-inform the public, after an appeal."
